BMW recalls domestically produced iX3, imported i4 and i7 due to supplier's production process error

【Phoneauto News】On August 11th, Huachen BMW Automobile Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automotive Trading Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the “Regulations on the Management of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products” and the “Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Management of Recalls of Defective Automobile Products”. They will recall some domestically produced iX3, imported i4, and i7 models, effective immediately.

Huachen BMW Automobile Co., Ltd. will recall a total of 7 domestically produced iX3 electric vehicles with production dates ranging from August 29th, 2022 to November 23rd, 2022. BMW (China) Automotive Trading Co., Ltd. will recall a total of 13 imported i4 electric vehicles with production dates ranging from June 21st, 2022 to August 1st, 2022; a total of 8 imported iX electric vehicles with production dates ranging from June 28th, 2022 to September 1st, 2022; and 1 imported i7 electric vehicle with a production date of September 1st, 2022.

It is understood that the vehicles within the scope of this recall may experience charging interruption and abnormal operation of the high-voltage system due to damage to the combination charging unit caused by an error in the supplier’s production process, posing a safety hazard. Huachen BMW Automobile Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automotive Trading Co., Ltd. will replace the combination charging unit free of charge for the vehicles within the recall scope to eliminate the safety hazard.

In June of this year, BMW announced a recall of 318 vehicles in the United States, including 289 units of the 2023 740i and 760i xDrive models manufactured from November 30th, 2022 to January 18th, 2023, as well as 29 units of the 2023 i7 xDrive60 models manufactured from December 6th, 2022 to December 19th, 2022.
