CAAM projects a 15.7% growth in China's overall automobile import and export volume by September 2023.
【PhoneAuto News】Recently, PhoneAuto noticed that according to the data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the total import and export value of automobiles in China showed a growth trend in September 2023, with a slight increase in import value and a rapid growth in export value. This indicates that the Chinese automotive market is steadily developing, and the resilience of the automotive industry chain continues to strengthen.
According to the data from the General Administration of Customs, in September 2023, the import value of automotive goods in China increased by 0.47% and decreased by 5.4% compared to the same period last year. Although the import value has decreased, it still shows an overall growth trend compared to the same period last year. This indicates that the demand for imported car models still exists in the Chinese automotive market, especially for high-end luxury models.
At the same time, the export value of automotive goods in China increased by 5% month-on-month and 26% year-on-year. This growth is mainly due to the improvement of the Chinese automotive industry chain and the rapid development of the new energy vehicle market. Chinese automotive brands have continuously improved their competitiveness in the international market, especially in the field of new energy vehicles, and have achieved significant results.

The import value decreased by 18% year-on-year, while the export value increased by 33.9% year-on-year. This indicates that the Chinese automotive industry is undergoing transformation and upgrading, shifting from a past focus on imports to an emphasis on exports.
Overall, with the rapid development of the new energy vehicle market and the improvement of the automotive industry chain, the future development prospects of the Chinese automotive industry will be even broader. In 2023, China is highly likely to become the world’s largest automobile exporter!
