【PhoneAuto News】On December 7th, PhoneAuto noticed that at the International Automotive Investment and Trade Development Sub-Forum of the 2023 World New Energy Vehicle Conference (WNEVC) held in Haikou, Hainan Province, Guo Shougang, Deputy Director of the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that new energy vehicles in China accounted for 30.4% of total vehicle sales. Guo Shougang expressed that new energy vehicles are an international industry and that international cooperation in the field of new energy vehicles should be deepened. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology supports R&D cooperation between Chinese and British enterprises to promote joint innovation in next-generation power batteries, among other things.

In the first three quarters of the year, China’s new energy vehicle industry maintained strong momentum, with not only the scale of production and sales further expanding, but also the rapid improvement of technological level. The energy density of mass-produced power battery cells reached 300 watt-hours/kilogram, the average range of pure electric passenger vehicles exceeded 460 kilometers, and the proportion of L2-level and above autonomous driving vehicles in passenger cars exceeded 40%.

In addition, the brand competitiveness of new energy vehicles has also greatly improved. In the first three quarters, the domestic market sales share of domestically-branded new energy passenger vehicles reached 80.2%; 825,000 new energy vehicles were exported, an increase of 1.1 times year-on-year. The supporting environment continues to be optimized. There were a total of 6.278 million charging piles and 3,460 battery swapping stations built in China in the first three quarters, and the number of power battery recycling service outlets exceeded 10,000. A total of more than 20,000 kilometers of intelligent connected vehicle test roads have been opened, with a total test mileage of over 70 million kilometers.

According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, domestic production and sales of new energy vehicles in October reached 989,000 and 956,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 29.2% and 33.5%, respectively, with a market share of 33.5%. In the first 10 months of this year, domestic sales of new energy vehicles reached 7.28 million units, a year-on-year increase of 37.8%, with a market share of 30.4%. Among them, pure electric vehicles accumulated sales of 5.16 million units, a year-on-year increase of 25.2%; plug-in hybrid vehicles accumulated sales of 2.116 million units, a year-on-year increase of 82.6%.
