Huawei’s new patent for cross-track satellite seam connection is announced! It can improve latency
Huawei announces new patent for cross-track satellite seam connection to improve latency
【Phoneauto News】According to Tianyancha App, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. has published a patent for “Method and Device for Satellite Connection Across Track Seams” on September 15th.
The abstract shows that the application provides a method and device for satellite communication across track seams, which improves network latency at least partially. According to examples, the method and device are suitable for non-ground (e.g. satellite) polar orbit constellation networks used to provide global communication services, which may not be supported by ground networks (e.g. wired networks or fiber optic networks).

Lv Tingjie, a professor at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and the Executive Vice Chairman of China Information Economics Society, said that previously, China’s Tiantong-1 satellite was mainly used in natural disasters or maritime satellite communications, but the previous terminals were particularly large. Therefore, Huawei’s new smartphones must have made significant breakthroughs in antenna technology and power consumption technology to provide satellite calling functions on mobile phones, which even SpaceX’s Starlink has not achieved.
In the Huawei Mate50 series released in the second half of 2022, Huawei introduced the BeiDou satellite messaging function for the first time. The satellite communication function of the Mate60 series is further optimized. The Mate60 Pro+ supports dual satellite communication and can still communicate with the outside world through multiple satellite systems when there is no ground network. Tiantong satellite call 1 can make and receive satellite calls, and can also freely edit satellite messages. The BeiDou satellite message 2 can send or receive satellite messages through the smooth connection app. Selecting multiple location information can generate a trajectory map for a more secure journey.
It is worth mentioning that according to a digital blogger’s disclosure, Huawei currently still monopolizes the satellite communication solution, and the satellite communication of a flagship smartphone using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform by another manufacturer has been cut off for unknown reasons.
