【Phoneauto News】On September 1st, BYD released the production and sales report for August 2023: the sales of new energy vehicles reached 274,386 units, an increase of 56.8% compared to the same period last year when it was 174,915 units; the cumulative sales for this year reached 1,792,184 units, with a cumulative year-on-year growth of 83.1%. At the same time, BYD sold a total of 25,023 new energy passenger vehicles overseas in August; the total installed capacity of new energy vehicle power batteries and energy storage batteries was approximately 13.928 GWh, and the cumulative installed capacity in 2023 is approximately 86.583 GWh.

Recently, BYD announced that the company’s sales of new energy vehicles for the first half of 2023 reached 1.25 million units, ranking among the top ten globally for the first time. BYD’s production and sales report shows that its cumulative sales for the first half of the year were approximately 1.256 million units, with a year-on-year growth of 95.78%. Among them, the sales of pure electric passenger vehicles were approximately 617,000 units, and the sales of plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles were approximately 631,000 units. From January to July this year, BYD’s cumulative sales reached 1.5178 million units, accounting for 50.6% of the annual sales target.

In terms of performance in the first half of the year, BYD achieved operating income of 260.124 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 72.72%; and a net profit of 10.954 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 204.68%. At the same time, BYD’s gross profit margin for the automotive business in the first half of the year reached 20.67%, an increase of 4.36 percentage points compared to the same period last year, slightly higher than Tesla’s gross profit margin of 18.2% in the second quarter.

In addition, BYD will participate in this year’s 2023 Munich International Motor Show (IAA Mobility), located in the same exhibition area as Mercedes-Benz and occupying the largest area. BYD’s Seal U and Tang D9 will be exhibited at that time.
