【Mobile China News】 Recently, Nikkei News and the dismantling organization Fomalhaut Techno Solutions jointly conducted a detailed teardown and cost evaluation of Apple’s latest iPhone 15 series products. The results show that compared to the previous generation, the overall hardware cost of the new models has increased by 8% to 16%.

This study analyzed the contribution of different countries and regions to the supply of iPhone 15 Pro Max components (based on cost). Among them, components from the United States account for the largest proportion, about 33%, ranking first; components from South Korea account for the second largest proportion, about 29%, an increase of 5% compared to before, ranking second; and components from Japan account for 10%, ranking third. It is worth noting that the proportion of components supplied by Taiwan, China has significantly increased, reaching 9%. In contrast, the proportion of components supplied by mainland China has decreased to only 2%.

The report also details that the material cost of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is about 4,079 yuan, with component costs accounting for 47% of the total cost, an increase of 12% compared to the previous generation iPhone 14 Pro Max. Among them, the cost of the screen has increased by 10%, the cost of the titanium metal frame has increased by 43%, and the cost of the A17 Pro chip is 27% more expensive than the A16 Bionic. In addition, the cost of the telephoto camera and its periscope lens system has increased 3.8 times compared to the previous generation product.
Furthermore, the cost of producing an iPhone 15 Pro has increased by 8% to $523. Meanwhile, the price of the iPhone 15 Plus, which is priced at $442, has increased by about 10% compared to the iPhone 14 Plus.
