Jaguar and Tesla to support NACS charging standard from 2025

【PhoneAuto News】According to foreign media reports, Jaguar announced that it has signed an agreement with Tesla to provide its electric vehicle owners with access to Tesla’s extensive network of supercharging stations by adopting the company’s North American Charging Standard (NACS).

In a press release, the company stated that starting from 2025, all new Jaguars sold in North America will be fully compatible with Tesla’s supercharging station network without the need for an adapter. Jaguar will also purchase adapters from Tesla and provide them to I-PACE owners. Jaguar joins the ranks of car manufacturers that have chosen to adopt the NACS charging standard, which includes Ford, General Motors, Aptera, Rivian, Honda, Fisker, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, Volvo, as well as charging companies Blink and ChargePoint.

Jaguar is being reimagined as an all-electric modern luxury brand, and signing with Tesla will help lead its strategy of creating a global electric vehicle support ecosystem. Jaguar’s electric vehicles are designed to optimize the charging speed of Tesla’s V3 and V4 superchargers, although the latter has not yet been launched in North America. However, the new V4 model, which was launched earlier this year in Europe, may soon enter North America, enabling drivers to access the fastest charging speeds regardless of which supercharging station they can use.

Mark Camilleri, Jaguar Land Rover’s Director of Electrification Services, said, “Jaguar Land Rover is committed to helping our customers transition to electric vehicles and fulfilling our commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2039. Today’s announcement is an important step as we deliver an outstanding charging experience for our all-electric Jaguar customers. While most charging is done at home, our customers expect fast, reliable, and convenient chargers when they are on the road. Tesla has created a charging network worldwide to achieve this goal, and we are delighted to partner with them to provide Jaguar customers with access. This agreement will allow Jaguar drivers with NACS-equipped vehicles in the United States, Canada, and Mexico to charge at Tesla Supercharger stations without an adapter.”
