NIO announces the breakthrough of over 20,000 charging piles, becoming the domestic automaker with the most installed charging stations.

NIO Achieves Milestone with Over 20,000 Installed Charging Stations, Surpassing all Other Domestic Automakers

【PhoneAuto News】On November 20th, NIO announced that it has surpassed 20,000 charging piles, making it the automaker with the most charging piles in the Chinese market. NIO continues to invest in research and development on charging products, developing an in-house 500kW ultra-fast charging pile with a maximum charging current of 660A. It charges even faster with an ultra-light liquid-cooled gun line that can be operated with one hand. It also features intelligent parking space detection, providing real-time information on available parking spaces.

It is understood that these 20,000 charging piles cover 306 cities across China, from Fuyuan in the east to Kashgar in the west, from Mohe in the north to Sansha in the south. It covers cities in all four corners of China, with the highest altitude reaching 4,469 meters.

While continuously building a high-speed battery swapping network, NIO is also actively deploying a high-speed supercharging network, with 1,090 high-speed supercharging piles already built. Among them, 228 of the 500kW ultra-fast charging piles have become the most deployed by any automaker in China, allowing users to enjoy the most efficient recharging experience whether they choose to swap batteries or charge during long-distance trips. Since the first Sichuan-Tibet fast charging route was established on December 22, 2020, it has connected three routes for entering Tibet via Sichuan, Qinghai, and Yunnan, as well as the Duku Highway and Silk Road, totaling 70 Power Journeys charging and swapping routes.

NIO has provided over 29 million charging services, resulting in a cumulative reduction of 419,959 tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to the absorption of carbon dioxide by 3.78 million cold fir trees over 30 years. It actively explores the interaction between the power grid and energy self-circulation system, and has deployed V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) charging and discharging piles in Beijing and Qilian Mountain National Park, among other locations.

From the beginning of the charging pile construction, NIO has opened its services to all new energy vehicle users, providing charging services for over 110 different vehicle brands, and offering convenience for every electric vehicle user’s travel.
