Exceeding 8,000 unit sales in one month! The driving force behind the success of the Xiaopeng G6.

As one of the “Three Musketeers” of Chinese new forces, Xiaopeng Motors has always relied on intelligence and innovation as its core competitiveness. At this year’s Shanghai Auto Show, Xiaopeng Motors unveiled its third mass-produced model – Xiaopeng G6. This car is positioned as a “super-intelligent SUV” and is a mid-sized pure electric vehicle. It not only has outstanding performance in terms of appearance, interior, power, and range, but also comes equipped with Xiaopeng Motors’ latest XNGP full-scenario intelligent assisted driving system, as well as the Xmart OS 4.0 in-vehicle intelligent system, providing users with an ultimate intelligent driving experience.

Recently, we had the opportunity to test drive the top-of-the-line model of Xiaopeng G6 – the 700 four-wheel drive high-performance Max. The starting price of this model is 276,900 yuan, and it is equipped with the sport package (electric tail wing + 20-inch wheels). During the test drive, we focused on several aspects: exterior and interior, power and range, intelligence, and driving experience. Now, let’s take a look at the performance of Xiaopeng G6 together.

The exterior design of Xiaopeng G6 continues the brand’s usual minimalist style, but with its own unique features. In the front, Xiaopeng G6 adopts full LED matrix headlights with a unique “Robot Face” emotional lighting design inside the lamp assembly, adding interactivity and fun. Xiaopeng G6 features a closed-type grille design, reducing air resistance while emphasizing its identity as an electric vehicle. The lower air intake adopts a honeycomb-shaped design, adding a sense of athleticism.

On the side of the car, Xiaopeng G6 has smooth and tension-filled lines, balanced proportions, and a wheelbase of 2,890mm, providing ample space for rear passengers. As for the windows, Xiaopeng G6 adopts a frameless design, offering a wider field of view and enhancing its coupe-like temperament. On the roof, Xiaopeng G6 features a floating design, creating a visual illusion that makes the body appear more slender. At the rear of the car, the biggest highlight of Xiaopeng G6 is its adaptive electric tail wing, a configuration that is very rare in the same class. Not only can it improve the vehicle’s aerodynamic performance, but it also adds personalization. Xiaopeng G6 adopts the Star River Lightsaber LED taillights, with light strips running through the entire rear of the car, making it highly recognizable during nighttime driving.

As for the exterior colors, Xiaopeng G6 offers six options: Orange Cloud, Crescent Silver, Nebula White, Starry Gray, Starry Blue, and Photon Blue. The car we test drove is Crescent Silver, which is currently the most popular color.

In terms of interior design, the design of the Xiaopeng G6 is also very clean and modern. It features a 14.96-inch floating touchscreen in the center console, which supports voice control in all scenarios. The operation is smooth and responsive, and the display effect is also very clear. As for the steering wheel, the Xiaopeng G6 adopts a new design that sets it apart from other models. The grip is decent, and there are two LCD screens behind the steering wheel, displaying the instrument panel and navigation information, providing a great visual effect.

Xiaopeng G6’s interior

The Xiaopeng G6 features a cloud-like seating experience, conforming to ergonomic curves. The driver’s seat comes with 8-way power adjustment and 4-way lumbar support. The front seats are equipped with ventilation and heating functions, providing high comfort for passengers. The rear seats can also be adjusted for angle, with a maximum angle of 38.4°, and can be folded down to create a rest area, making efficient use of space. In the trunk, the Xiaopeng G6 has a capacity of 500L, which can meet daily storage needs. When the rear seats are folded down, the space can be further expanded.

Xiaopeng G6’s power system is one of its biggest highlights. This vehicle adopts an 800V high-voltage platform, equipped with front and rear dual motors, with a total power of 358kW and a peak torque of 660N·m. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 202 km/h. The power performance is outstanding. As for the battery, the Xiaopeng G6 uses CATL’s ternary lithium battery with a capacity of 87.5 kWh, providing a range of 700 km under comprehensive working conditions.

In actual use, the range during high-speed driving can easily reach over 400 km, demonstrating strong endurance. In terms of charging, the Xiaopeng G6 supports a maximum fast charging power of 280kW. Charging for 10 minutes can increase the range by 300 km, and charging from 10% to 90% only takes 33 minutes, making it very fast.

Xiaopeng Motors has always focused on intelligence as its core competitiveness, and the Xiaopeng G6 is no exception. This vehicle is equipped with the latest XNGP full-scenario intelligent assisted driving system and Xmart OS 4.0 in-car intelligent system, providing users with an ultimate intelligent driving experience.

The XNGP full-scenario intelligent assisted driving system is Xiaopeng Motors’ flagship product. It can realize two modes of intelligent navigation assisted driving in the city and on the highway, covering various scenarios such as city roads, highways, and parking lots. It can automatically recognize traffic lights, avoid pedestrians, avoid obstacles, and provide intelligent route planning, greatly improving driving safety and convenience.

During the test drive, we experienced two modes: city NGP and highway NGP. Overall, it feels very reassuring. The system has strong perception and computing capabilities, accurately identifying road conditions and traffic signals, automatically adjusting speed and lane, and can even handle complex intersections or lane changes automatically. All you need to do is lightly hold the steering wheel and enjoy the fun of intelligent driving. Of course, the system is not perfect. Sometimes there may be minor mistakes or delays, such as occasionally exceeding the stop line at traffic lights or deviating from the center of the lane when turning. These issues may be improved through OTA upgrades in the future. However, since it is still an L2 level assisted driving system, the driver still needs to remain vigilant and intervene in a timely manner to prevent accidents.

Xpeng XNGP

Xmart OS 4.0, the onboard intelligent system of Xpeng cars, is another highlight of Xpeng G6. It provides powerful software and hardware synergy, enabling functions such as comprehensive voice control, intelligent connectivity, smart travel, and intelligent entertainment, providing users with rich intelligent services. During the test drive, we mainly experienced two functions: comprehensive voice control and intelligent entertainment.

Comprehensive voice control allows users to control various functions of the vehicle through voice commands, such as adjusting air conditioning, opening the sunroof, navigation, playing music, etc. It can also support natural language and multi-turn dialogue, with high recognition and understanding rates, making it very convenient to operate. Intelligent entertainment allows users to enjoy various entertainment content in the car, such as music, videos, games, novels, etc. It can also intelligently recommend content based on user preferences and scenarios, allowing users to relax while driving.

Xpeng G6’s driving experience is also highly praised. This car not only has powerful power, but also has comfortable suspension and flexible handling. During the test drive, we felt the balance between the sportiness and comfort of Xpeng G6. This car has four driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Intelligent, and Custom, which can be switched according to different road conditions and driver preferences, affecting parameters such as power output, suspension stiffness, and steering assistance.

Xpeng G6

In Comfort mode, Xpeng G6 has smooth power output, soft suspension, and strong steering assistance, suitable for daily city driving, giving a relaxed and comfortable feeling. In Sport mode, Xpeng G6 has aggressive power output, firm suspension, and less steering assistance, suitable for high-speed driving, giving a passionate and thrilling feeling. In Intelligent mode, Xpeng G6’s power output, suspension, and steering assistance will automatically adjust according to the driver’s driving habits and road conditions, suitable for different scenarios, giving a feeling of intelligent adaptation. In Custom mode, the driver can freely adjust various parameters of the vehicle according to personal preferences, suitable for personalized driving, giving a feeling of freedom of choice.

The Xiaopeng G6 is a highly recommended mid-size electric SUV. It not only has a stylish and minimalist exterior and interior design, but also powerful and efficient power and range. It also boasts industry-leading intelligence and an excellent driving experience. Whether it’s performance, comfort, safety, or entertainment, it can provide users with a satisfying experience. If you’re someone who seeks smart driving, then the Xiaopeng G6 is definitely your top choice.
