【PhoneAuto News】From May 25th to May 28th, Sony will hold “Sony Expo 2023” in Shanghai with the theme of “Wonderland Roaming”, showcasing Sony’s highlights and development status in electronic, music, animation, gaming, film and television, technology research and development, sustainability and other businesses in China. At the pre-show press conference on May 24th, Mr. Takashi Yoshida, President of Sony (China) Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech and introduced Sony’s vision in China: “Inspire inspiration and passion, and create inspiration together with dream pursuers.” Subsequently, the major business leaders of Sony in China also took the stage one by one to explain the development strategies and latest initiatives of their respective businesses.

Adhering to the corporate mission of “moving the world with the power of creativity and technology”, Sony is rooted in the Chinese market and has put forward its vision for development in China: “Inspire inspiration and passion, and create inspiration together with dream pursuers.” Mr. Takashi Yoshida, President of Sony (China) Co., Ltd., interpreted this vision at the press conference: “There are many dream pursuers in China who are full of passion and longing for the future. Sony Expo 2023 not only showcases the latest achievements of Sony’s various product lines, but also features several technology concepts from Sony China Research Institute that are being exhibited in China for the first time. These include the “Virtual Dance Lab,” which combines 3D content generation and motion capture technology; the “Intelligent Mechanical Photography Studio,” which can replace manual labor to achieve automatic photography with mechanical arms; and the “Immersive Haptic Theater,” which utilizes haptic feedback technology to enhance the concert experience. This is the first time that Sony China Research Institute has led an exhibition in China, with the aim of communicating and exchanging Sony’s technology research and development initiatives and stage achievements in China, getting closer to the local creative entertainment community, and working together with more outstanding partners to explore and practice new application scenarios in the new era.

Mr. Mikio Takeo, Vice President of Sony (China) Co., Ltd. and Director of Sony China Research Institute, introduced Sony’s R&D strategy and core technologies in China at the press conference. He said, “In the short to medium term, we will focus on exploring China’s entertainment (metaverse) field. We hope to create more diverse and accessible entertainment content creation and appreciation solutions by leveraging Sony’s front-end technologies such as AI, communication, sensing, robotics, and 3D content production, combined with Sony’s rich entertainment content in film, music, animation, games, and other areas.”

The Sony China Research Institute will also hold two partner technology forums at the Sony Expo 2023 site. Mr. Takeo said, “Sony’s corporate mission is to ‘move the world with the power of creativity and technology.’ Our diversified business is our unique advantage, and technological research and development innovation is the fundamental cornerstone. Looking to the future, the areas that Sony China Research Institute focuses on will be more extensive, such as sustainable development. We will further open up external exchanges, strengthen cooperation between industry, academia, and research in China, and integrate and contribute to China’s industrial upgrading and social development.”
