South Korea has seen a significant increase in electric vehicle recalls, with the Model 3 being the most recalled car model

【Phoneauto News】On October 7th, phoneauto learned that according to data, the number of electric vehicle recalls in South Korea has increased by more than 14 times in the past three years. BMW is the automaker with the highest number of recalls (with three models recalled), and the most recalled model is the Tesla Model 3.

According to electric vehicle recall data recently submitted by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, the number of electric vehicle recalls in South Korea has increased from 8 cases in 2020 to 53 cases in 2021 and 118 cases in 2022. From January to August this year, a total of 64 electric vehicles were recalled, and 9 out of the top 10 recalled models were imported electric vehicles. Among them, BMW has the highest number of recalls, with 25 cases. Tesla is the second highest, with 19 recalls, followed by Mercedes-Benz with 18 recalls.

In terms of models, the Tesla Model 3 has the highest number of recalls, with a total of 12 cases. The Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ is the second highest, with 11 recalls, and the BMW iX xDrive50 and General Motors Bolt EV each have 10 recalls. The BMW i7 xDrive60 has 8 recalls, and the BMW iX3 M Sport, Volkswagen ID.4, Tesla Model Y, and Porsche Taycan each have 7 recalls.

It is reported that within the past three years, the number of free maintenance services for electric vehicles in South Korea has increased by more than six times, with 15 cases in 2020, 64 cases in 2021, and 96 cases in 2022. As of August this year, major automakers have provided 95 cases of free maintenance services for electric vehicles.
