The three major storage chip manufacturers have announced price increases of around 7% to 8%!

【PhoneAuto News】Recently, PhoneAuto noticed that research firm CINNOResearch stated: The price of DRAM memory has been in a long-term decline at the original factory, and it is now a consensus that it cannot fall any further. Faced with the key third quarter traditional peak season, the three major original factories are trying to boost the price of next season’s DRAM contracts. Although there are still concerns about inventory and the lack of clear recovery in terminal demand, entering the struggle of pulling and tugging at least represents the bottoming out of the industry and the hope of recovery.

Not long ago, major memory chip manufacturer Micron released its latest financial report for March to May. This Micron financial report released some indicators and information related to the memory chip industry, including views on memory prices and inventory adjustments.

Some analysts believe that the memory decline cycle has reached its bottom, and there have been recent reports in the market that the original factories plan to boost DRAM prices in the next quarter. At the same time, industry insiders have stated that the three major original factories currently want to pull contract prices, with a target increase of 7-8%. However, they are currently engaged in a tug-of-war at the end of the quarter, and the situation faced by individual manufacturers is different. If the downstream inventory level is still high, whether they will accept the offer still remains to be seen.

During the 618 promotion this year, PhoneAuto noticed that the price of 16GB (8GB×2) DDR4 3200 frequency memory modules for PC only cost less than 150 yuan, such as products from brands like JINBAIDA and ADATA. However, the market price has now stabilized. There are reports that the stabilization of DRAM prices used in smartphones and PCs is mainly due to reduced production by memory chip manufacturers, leading to a decrease in market inventory.

Currently, in May 2023, the wholesale price of DDR4 8GB is around $1.48 per unit, which is roughly the same as in April 2023, ending a 12-month consecutive decline. At the same time, the price of smaller capacity 4GB products is around $1.1 per unit, which is also the same as in April 2023.
